Thursday, June 30, at 21.00, the concert of the Bob Jones Orchestra, coming from the United States and conducted by M. Michael W. Moore, will take place at Cortile Federico II of Cremona
The orchestra will perform a wide range of pieces by famous musicians, for example: “Concerto della Rutica” di Antonio Vivaldi, “Arie e Danze Antiche” di Ottorino Respighi, il “Concerto in D- Estienne Riger 188” di Giuseppe Torelli, e “Sinfonia No 4 “Italiano” di Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdv.
The initiative is part of the thirteenth edition of the Cremona Summer Festival and the project " La Musica Celeste Itineraries between Art and Music", in collaboration with the Thursdays of the center. The Cremona Summer Festival is organized by the Chamber of Commerce of Cremona with the Institute of Musical Studies "Claudio Monteverdi", with the contribution of Regione Lombardia and with the patronage and collaboration of the Municipality of Cremona, the Consortium of Liutai "Antonio Stradivari" Cremona, the Cremona International Music Academy, the Touring Club, the Casalmaggiore International Music Festival and the Youth Orchestra Festival of Florence.
The concerts of the festival are free and subject to availability. In case of bad weather, the concerts will take place under the arcades of the Cortile.
Dr. Michael W. Moore, the conductor, is Professor and President of the Division of Music at Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina, USA. He has directed several award-winning performances including Lucia di Lammermoor, The Cinderella, The Tale of Two Cities, and Titanic: The Musical, as well as Samson et Dalila, Cosi fan Tutte, La Bella e La Bestia della Disney, Little Women: The Musical and a wide range of symphonic, choral, educational and pop standard programs. At the invitation of the Cremona Orchestra Festival in Cremona, he led 40 members of the BJUSO on a study tour abroad in the summer of 2023 with performances in Rome, Florence, Venice, Cremona, and Crema. As a conductor, he has collaborated with David Kim of the Philadelphia Orchestra, Steven White of the Metropolitan Opera, Richard Kaufman, Jim Thatcher, Lee Holdridge, Patrick Russ, and many other artists.
The Bob Jones University Symphony Orchestra is a 65-member student ensemble with a long and rich tradition of presenting orchestral masterpieces, oratorios, operas, musical theater, and sacred and symphonic pop repertoire. Auditions are open to all students of the university, regardless of the degree program
