Mark Lakirovich's interview

1. How much is it important to make music full immersion in a place like Cremona?

Making a full immersion in a place like Cremona is important since violins and music were born in Cremona; there are strings and master violin makers everywhere that's why it is really important to us.

 2. What is the worth of this experience that combines different educational styles and different realities of musical formation?

The worth of this experience is that it gives young students, coming from different schools, the opportunity to learn from highly qualified teachers. Moreover, it is really important because students get in touch with different cultures.

3.  How does the relationship between students and teachers develop during this experience?

since the program is intense, students and teachers spend a lot of time together, so they create strong and worthful relationships.

4.  What is your impression of Cremona? Do you feel the importance of the musical tradition and lutherie here in the city?

Yes, absolutely. Music lives here, the lutherie was born here, so Cremona is really important for the great tradition linked to music and lutherie.

5. How difficult is organizing a concert every day?

The program is intense and strong, performing every day is challenging, but it's also an opportunity for the students to learn as much as possible in a short period.

6.  How important is the cultural exchange between musicians from all over the world?

The cultural exchange is relevant for the students but also the musicians, because it leads to creating dialogue and friendship among people from different countries, so with different cultures and lifestyles

7. What does coming back to Cremona after the Pandemic mean to you?

We couldn't look forward to coming back. It's been 3 years since the last Academy. The world has to face the Pandemic and other problems, but it is important to start again also with music.

We missed Cremona, the audience, and friends and we are so happy to be here!
