The first two days of TUM will be free and online, dedicated to music and tourism professionals, streamed on www.turismomusicale.net.

Six panels to reflect on the role of music tourism, with 24 Italian and foreign speakers and the attempt to have all the different figures involved in this issue present: Municipalities, Territorial Promotion Bodies, music festivals, cultural associations, University lecturers, and private companies. Two conferences to present the best cases of territorial promotion projects through music, both Italian and foreign, and four panels to reflect on topics of high relevance in the world of music and tourism. From the PNRR, with the theme of the enhancement of the villages, to the involvement of local communities, from urban regeneration and the need to find new spaces for live music to involvement and youth participation.

PANEL

MUSICAL PROMOTION OF TOURISM

18/10/2022 9.45 - 10:45 ONLINE

Often, and erroneously, we refer to Experiential Tourism  as a niche phenomenon when here are actually many travelers who decide to book a holiday based on their passions. The only musical tourists in Italy are about 5 million people who claim to have participated in a musical experience as a primary motivation for travel. Many are tourists who consider the presence of a musical offer important in the destination, and who expect to find information about it in the websites and information materials of territorial promotion bodies. But how do you communicate the musical offer of the territory in a tourist key? How to make it a strong point and a distinctive feature of the destination? We investigate this phenomenon and its opportunities with some municipalities and tourist promotion bodies that have long put music at the center of their story or are beginning to take advantage of this opportunity to intercept the many Italian and foreign musical tourists.

MUSIC FESTIVALS AND RELATIONS WITH THE COMMUNITIES

18/10/2022 11:00-12:00 ONLINE

Can music festivals create new temporary epicentres of aggregation and at the same time activate processes of regeneration and participation in the long term? Every year in Italy there are more than 500 boutique festivals, mostly outside the urban centers, which lead thousands of people to discover places on the margins or countries with a few hundred inhabitants. In this panel we want to understand which processes to activate to involve the local population and build an event also with and for the community.

CULTURAL AND TOURIST REGENERATION TO REVIVE INLAND COUNTRIES AND AREAS

18/10/2022 12:15 - 13:30 ONLINE

2022 was a year in which, also thanks to the PNRR, the theme of villages and inner areas was at the center of public debate. Specifically, the Announcement Borghi was a notice that has been much discussed, putting at the center of the discussion a topic dear to those who have long been involved in understanding how to repopulate these areas: regeneration in a cultural and tourist key is the only way to relaunch the countries? In this panel, we want to investigate the criticalities of this model, but also to understand if culture, and specifically music, can be a valid tool for the reactivation of these communities, if combined with other practices that favor the repopulation of countries, leaving the rhetoric of the postcard village.

URBAN REGENERATION AND NEW ARTISTIC SPACES

19/10/2022 09:45 - 10:45 ONLINE

Urban regeneration has the task of giving a new role to forgotten spaces, generally suggesting to the institution's new urban policies to be pursued. Music, with its various forms of cultural entertainment, has managed over time to be fundamental to this type of design, creating spaces open to all and central to the development of local musical and creative scenes.

In this panel we want to compare three different Italian models, trying to investigate the different ways of activation of these spaces, deepening the legislative and bureaucratic aspects, and telling the cultural and artistic proposals that are hosted in these places. A discussion to understand the replicability of these models and understand how to create new stages and spaces for live music, open to future generations and to the community.

MUSIC AS A TOOL FOR YOUTH PARTICIPATION

19/10/2022 11:00-12:00 ONLINE

Always central to the personal growth of an individual, youth participation programs have taken on a greater role after the advent of the pandemic, managing to fill the gap created by the temporary lack of encounter and sharing among young people. This type of activity is particularly important because it encourages, promotes, and facilitates the participation of young people in democratic life at local, regional, national, and European levels. How, therefore, can music be a central instrument in these programs to stimulate, especially in the most vulnerable young people, a change that enhances their culture, and strengthens social cohesion and active participation?

AROUND THE WORLD WITH MUSIC (TOURISM)

PROMOSSO DA ITALIAN MUSIC EXPORT E LINECHECK

ENGLISH PANEL

19/10/2022 12:15 - 13:30 ONLINE

Music tourism is still a little-known phenomenon in Italy, while abroad it is common to travel to attend concerts, festivals or to discover a territory and its musical heritage. In this panel we want to tell about several foreign companies and realities that combine live music, road trips, sightseeing and digital storytelling of the local music scene, to present projects that can also be an inspiration for the musical and territorial promotion of our Country.

A tale that will start from Europe, with Everything Is Music (UK) and Bach by Bike (Germany), and land all the way to Australia with Queensland music trails.

Panel in English promoted by Italia Music Export and Linecheck Festival.
